Innovations Wellness & Medspa: Where Patients are Heard and Treatments are Personalized

In six short months, Innovations Wellness and Medspa has made quite the impression in Canton. At the helm is founder and nurse practitioner Janet Jarrette, whose passion for personalized care is reshaping how our community experiences wellness. We sat down with Janet to learn what inspired her to launch Innovations and build a business rooted in compassion and connection.

"Why did you decide to start a business, and why here in Canton?"

Janet: I founded Innovations Wellness and Med Spa, after recognizing there's a clear gap between medical spas, plastic surgery centers, and traditional health care. I noticed that a lot of our patients were feeling unseen, not heard, and they were given a one size fits all approach to medicine. I wanted Innovations to be able to give personalized care to our patients, and combine not only traditional medicine, but bringing in their symptoms and listening to what they need and what they want to take from being care for here.

I also think getting further in education and becoming a nurse practitioner, you know, it's that next step of no longer doing floor nursing and starting out with your practice. It also made sense to open the business here in Canton, because my family's been here since 1999. My community's here, and we love serving the people of Canton.

"You talk a lot about being seen and heard. Have you experienced that personally, or seen it secondhand in patients?"

Janet: I've seen a lot of that and heard directly from patients where they're having hot flashes, brain fog, weight gain, fatigue — all these different things. And it really can make you feel very sluggish, on a day to day basis. They go from person to person because they are trying to get someone to listen to them, to help them feel better. I definitely feel that a lot of people are not hearing them in the medicinal arena.

"Have you faced any challenges in starting your own medspa?"

Janet: It's actually been a unique experience, challenging personally, because it stretches you to grow. It is a learning curve, but the great thing about it is, I've met so many great people and this community, especially, they help each other.

From the Canton Business Club to the Woodstock Business Club, every single person wants to see how they can help us and that does not happen in every community.

"What advice would you give to other women looking to start a medspa?"

Janet: Just do it. You know, obviously, look at your surroundings, of where you place the medspa. But you know, if God gives you a dream, in your heart, you gotta go for it.

"Where would you like to see Innovations two to three years down the line?"

Janet: I would like to bring in specialized equipment like the Morpheus8 and lasers to reach that next level of treating skin.

I would also like to see maybe a different way of structuring a med spa... where there's a hair salon, hormone therapy specialists, and more. Like a multi-functional building. I want it to be a natural experience when they're visiting. Somebody hears you're having hot flashes? Oh, Janet can help you next door, you know. A floating concept of people helping each other.

"How should a customer feel when they leave your spa?"

I want every patient that walks through that door to feel seen, heard, and understood — to know that they're going to leave with a personalized plan for what they're going through, feeling better and more confident in their healthcare journey.

One of the most validating things is feeling well from the inside out and knowing that somebody has heard you.
