Pull On Your Favorite Jeans and Head to Denim Fest

Oct 15, 2026

Fall is here, which means it's almost time for one of our favorite annual traditions: Denim Fest at The Mill on Etowah! Now in its fifth year, join us on Saturday, October 17 for a full day of FREE fall fun for the whole family. Want to learn more about Denim Fest 2026? Keep reading for everything you need to know!

Why Denim Fest?

Long before the The Mill on Etowah was established, this site was one of the world's largest producers of high-quality denim. Canton Cotton Mill #1 was started in 1900 by Robert Tyre Jones, a local businessman, to make cotton thread. Within a short time it was making denim instead, and “Canton Denim” became household name, putting Canton on the map around the world.

In August 1958, the mill celebrated Canton Denim's global success with the Denim Days Carnival, hosted by the Retail Merchants Association of Canton. People came for food, carnival games, contests, and beauty pageants, and the association declared August 18 Denim Carnival Day, “a day of fellowship and enjoyment for all,” according to History Cherokee.

More than a century later, Denim Fest brings that spirit back to The Mill with added fall flair.
