Kilwins at The Mill on Etowah: Serving Smiles, Sweet Sensations, and Community Charm

At the brand-new Kilwins location at The Mill on Etowah, owner Mona Rathore and store supervisor Jazmin Oliver are bringing decades of confectionery tradition to Downtown Canton. Since 1947, Kilwins has delighted families with handcrafted chocolates, fudge, caramel apples, brittles, popcorn, and Original Recipe ice cream made from premium ingredients.

We sat down with Mona and Jazmin to explore what makes this sweet spot special, from in-store craftsmanship to its perfect fit in Canton's family-focused community.

Tell us about the moment you decided to bring Kilwins to Canton.

In addition to serving scrumptious sweets, Mona and Jazmin explain that Kilwins is about creating shared, joyful experiences that perfectly align with the vibrant, family-oriented energy already thriving at The Mill on Etowah.

Mona: "When we first visited a Kilwins in Atlantic Station, we knew this was something we needed to bring to Canton. It was full of fun and families enjoying time together - people coming in to sit, chat, and share moments together. After opening at The Mill, we felt welcomed immediately in Canton; it's a close-knit, family-oriented community that accepted us right away."

Jazmin: "Canton, and especially The Mill, is a great place for families to come. It's safe, with kids playing outside on the Green, plenty of eatery choices, and then they can stop in for a sweet treat at the end. It adds that perfect little indulgence to this homey, welcoming town."

How would you describe the Kilwins experience to someone who's never been before?

Jazmin: "Chocolate on chocolate on chocolate! But seriously, we have a little bit of everything! Ice cream for that cold and sweet craving, caramel apples with a balance of tart and rich, fudge made fresh in-store, dipped marshmallows, crispies, pretzel rods. People can watch us make fudge in real time. Our fudge, caramel apples, brittles, and popcorn, are all handmade on-site and never shipped in."

Mona: "It's a theater experience. Customers can come in, feel, touch, taste before they buy. We sample a lot - popcorns, brittles, fudges, ice cream. And as soon as you walk in, you're hit with that sweet smell, especially when we're making our signature caramel fudge, brittle, popcorn, or waffle cones."

We experienced this sensory welcome first-hand on our visit to Kilwins, with the aromas of freshly-prepared fudge greeting us the moment we opened the door. When the treats look and smell this good, you'll definitely want to sample a bit of everything. And you might leave with more than what you originally came in for - don't say we didn't warn you!

Which products or flavors do you personally enjoy the most?

Jazmin: "Our milk chocolate snappers (pecans with caramel and milk chocolate) are one of my favorites. Oh, and our white chocolate pretzels and sea salt caramel fudge! For ice cream, cappuccino chocolate chip and All-American two berry pie are my top two."

Mona: "My favorite is the peanut caramel apple, chocolate fudge, and the fudge brownie ice cream."

The peanut caramel apple is certainly worth the hype - it's one of the many things we got to sample during our visit, and we will definitely be back for more!

For those colder days, you absolutely cannot skip on the hot chocolate. It's silky smooth and, of course, is made using Kilwins' signature chocolate. You will not be disappointed!

Of course, these are just a few of the hundreds of treats available at Kilwins, so you will want to spend some time exploring and sampling the flavors for yourself when you visit.

How do you keep your offerings fresh and exciting?

Jazmin: "In addition to keeping our old-time favorites around, we're constantly experimenting with new additions. For example, we have seasonal fudges and ice creams, like our apple and pumpkin pie flavors around Thanksgiving. In summer, lemon meringue or key lime pie hits big."

Mona: "Although Corporate does research and development and creates recipes, we execute them here from scratch and we adapt to local preferences. For example, if our customers demanded pecan praline, we'll start making it.

It depends on what Canton asks for, so if you want to see anything on our menu, be sure to let us know!"

Jazmin: "Yes! You can buy tubs of ice cream to take home - perfect for parties or family nights! And if you have any questions, please ask for samples or recommendations - we love guiding you!

We can custom-make brittles, popcorns, and more for events, baby showers, weddings, birthdays, or holidays - small to party-sized. Our caramel popcorn is so fresh and amazing."
