Dollar Family Movies at The Historic Canton Theatre

Looking for an affordable, family-friendly outing this summer? Why not join us for the Summer Family Movie series at the Historic Canton Theatre? Throughout June and July, our beautifully-restored 114 year-old theatre will show a selection of eight movies that are sure to delight everyone from the youngest audience members to the young at heart. Tickets and concessions are just $1 each, making this a budget-friendly outing the whole family will love. Keep reading to see the full lineup, as well as when tickets for each movie go on sale!

June 5: Inside Out 2

Join Riley and her emotions on a new adventure as she navigates the challenges of being a teenager. When Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust must adjust to the arrival of some unannounced guests, things inside Headquarters get shaken up in surprising ways. Inside Out 2 delivers the laughs, surprises, and emotional punch Pixar is known for, making it a strong kickoff to the Summer Movie Series that audiences of all ages will enjoy and find meaning in.

A Spanish-language screening will be held on June 7th at 7 p.m.

June 12: The Wild Robot

Based on the bestselling book, The Wild Robot tells the story of Roz, a robot who wakes up alone on a remote island and must learn to survive in the wild. Along the way, she builds unexpected friendships with the animals around her and discovers what it means to truly belong.

June 19: The Princess and the Frog

Prepare for a magical journey through the bayous of Louisiana in The Princess and The Frog. Set in the lively backdrop of New Orleans, this animated favorite follows a young woman whose dreams take a detour when a prince-turned-frog pulls her into an unexpected twist of fate.

June 26: Transformers One

July 10: IF

IF (short for Imaginary Friends) is a whimsical, feel-good adventure from writer-director John Krasinski. When a young girl gains the ability to see everyone’s forgotten imaginary friends, she sets out to reconnect them with the kids who once loved them. IF is a reminder that it’s never too late to reconnect with your inner kid or your creative side.

July 17: Dog Man

Based on the hit graphic novels by Dav Pilkey, Dog Man leaps from the page to the Canton Theatre's big screen in this laugh-out-loud action-adventure. When a heroic police dog and his cop partner are injured on the job, doctors save them by combining the best of both; creating Dog Man, a crime-fighting pup with a nose for justice. It’s every bit as bizarre as it sounds, and that’s exactly what makes Dog Man a tail-wagging good time!

July 24: Moana 2
